Do you want me to tell you the truth or just what you want to hear?
“In your opinion how much would you need to earn to be able to do all the things you really want to do in life, try to be realistic?
You may think this is a bizarre opening line to ask, you may be wondering why anyone would want anything but the truth. Fact is many people know the truth when they hear it or read it (or so they believe) but do they?
When we write copy for marketing purposes, which if you think about it is almost everything that goes into print. We are attempting to persuade someone of our point of view. Internet marketing is the new playground of prose.
GET Under the conscious radar of your prospect.
This offers some great opportunities for those willing to spend a little time knowing how to really get under the conscious radar of your prospect.
Let me just turn back to TRUTH for a moment. In internet marketing we all attempt the HARD SELL because we have the statistics to tell us we have a minimal amount of attention span from our prospects. Ego; we need to sell fast!
Looking at this established theory, it may be established but it is not the truth. The real truth is that if we can become instantly familiar we can hold onto the prospect for longer. A good conversation, novel, film or song, all have an air of truth about them.
HOW DO WE INSTALL TRUTH INTO OUR PROSPECTS MINDS?
There are many ways to prise open the truth for your prospects. Be under no illusion, if you can get a 70% truth factor into your copy you will sell more.
Let me show you an example of truth (in the eyes of a major drug Co). The press release below is my example. In the context of this article it is not and never has been connected with any drug company. Truth…
“Today our scientists discovered a new drug that could bring an end suffering for millions of children around the world”. The trials planned over the next five years will be funded by private investors. A spokesperson for the department of health said. “We are delighted that Conuall drugs have made this announcement, we are however a little concerned they have investment only from the private sector. This may affect the price of this new drug to the NHS if the trials go according to plan”.
The paragraph above serves to illustrate the principle as to what this marketing article is about. We read similar events all too often in the press and yet no new wonder drug is ever actually revealed?
It is a fine example of distorting truth to fit the minds of the reader for profit. This subject is too big to cover in an article such as this so I will stick to the question at hand.
How do we install truth into our prospects minds long enough to take money from it.
That may sound harsh but that is the bottom line, we all think it but we never write it, who are we kidding?
Prospects will stay longer if they are reading the truth…THEIR TRUTH not yours. Some people have had the pleasure of reading other information on NLPology (which deals with relative truth in marketing) bottom line, if you know people well enough they will pay attention to you (or if they think you know them well enough).
Tips for writing the truth
First, take a good objective view of the type of person you are targeting. Now write a description of your prospect and make sure it includes the following area.
Your prospects personality type!
I believe that Personality Profiling your Prospects is the greatest untapped Internet marketing resource.
Let me give you a classic paragraph on a good marketing profile, this holds true today as it did back in the 1900’s when it was coined by the great P.T Barnum. He was a legendary showman and circus owner who was said to have coined the phrase “Something to please everyone”.
We call them Barnum statements.
What is a Barnum statement?
It is a statement that rings true with many people your daily stars are based on general statements that seem to fit the readers. This in psychology is known collectively as a Barnum statement. Using these give the impression of truth in your ad copy and has for the most part ignored by many copywriters.
Typical Barnum statements
1. You tend to be too self critical
2. You’re an independent and creative thinker
3. You do not accept what others tell you to believe
4. Some of your goals seem to be a little unrealistic
Adaptation to the above and countless other variations can be used to create credibility to your copy. Below I have used an example from a collective list of statements that could fit many but seem specific to the individual.
One of the important points to remember here is that everyone thinks they are totally different to all others. Considering most of the English speaking world shares the same media, this is becoming increasingly less so. It is the collective influence of our own communication that is closing this gap.
A small snippet form NLPology…
“Considering all the hard work you have put into your work is it about time you got something back? With so much misleading information it is hard to know what the truth is, how to know exactly what you need to do. The main confusion is that there are so many options and each draws you towards areas you may not want to go”.
“Your site needs as many buying visitors as you can get, you will get as many visitors as you work for. Once you have a good list, newsletter/E-zine or E books to sell affiliation and automation will then earn you money in your sleep.
So how do I get there?
“Consider the possibility that for a moment you have wiped the mind slate clean. Ask yourself; what do you need to promote your business on the internet? Don’t attempt to complicate the solution with your existing knowledge. What I have discovered is that making money in your sleep is possible but you have to know how to set it up first.”
For those of you who have read my previous article on “Sell anything to anyone” will no doubt recognized the formula I used above. Many of the statements are true for countless people in this industry.
Notice how much softer the approach is because your talking about how they really feel about themselves, by extension you are familiar with their plight, their TRUTH. More importantly look how many leading statements come into play, outright suggestions I want my prospect to do. Yet in the context of this conversation it does not seem unreasonable.
Consider the hard and soft feeling attached to these two words, in your opinion which is softer. You or You’re?
I would suspect the latter will be chosen by most because it is softer in its approach; it is not as sharp as YOU. Why shout when you can covertly suggest?
I have seen many ads that ask questions and set a particular thinking process in action in the minds of the prospect. All of them fail to identify with the client’s internal truth, I say talking because most questions actually make the prospect feel stupid.
Example
DO YOU WANT TO EARN WHILE YOU SLEEP?
Stupid question and one that most prospects will click away from.
Why?
Because they are desensitized to it, they have seen it so many times they know it is an established opener, usually from idiots with no imagination, what are they going to sell the prospect?
Asking for their (prospects) opinion as you would a friend in conversation the above question could be phrased to read like this…
“In your opinion how much would you need to earn to be able to do all the things you really want to do?
Think about it for a moment, calculate the figures and come up with a monthly or yearly figure. When you do this quick calculation an important observation may take place inside of your mind. (Did he just say your mine?)
For the first time you may become aware that if you have not made your fortune yet it is because you had not actually put a figure on it. Yes we all want to earn in our sleep, who wouldn’t! But in doing so we have to give our subconscious mind a little more to go on…a target!
The goal is now how much not the ambiguous fuzzy goal of “I want to earn in my sleep”. If you’re too lazy to think of a figure, you will never earn in your sleep.
Truth is relative and so is your copywriting so think what your prospect would think like, make relative truth statements and combine those with NLPology (New Language Patterns) of leading and pacing (See my other articles).

Positioning is a powerful concept in marketing. To illustrate, have you ever visited a fast food restaurant, and, in a rush to complete your order asked for a coke when you “perhaps” meant to order some other soft drink? The Coke brand and its owners have achieved a top of mind awareness. Their brand name has become synonymous with a commodity that has a strong demand. A lot the brand’s success may be attributed to being the first successful soft drink on the mass market, other possibilities may be due to their perpetual multi-million dollar global marketing campaigns that span life-times as well as cultures. Whatever the cause, the Coke brand has a very successful & fortified position.
Another example of a strong positioning statement that achieves a great top of mind awareness is Verizon’s “Can you Hear Me Now” campaign. How many times have you uttered those exact words, sometimes even consciously, when the person the other end of the tele has a low signal. In most cases, what follows are expressed or unexpressed images about the “Can You Hear Me Now Guy.”
Good marketers know the power of a strong positioning statement. With strong positioning, it is nearly impossible to be out-paced by the competition using moderate marketing dollars alone. Furthermore, there are cases where product owners with seemingly unlimited/ multi-million dollar marketing budgets were unsuccessful at winning significant market-share against a product with an established position. In fact, given a strong position that is known by the market, the competition is better off not competing on your terms, because the consumer already intuitively associates your brand with the commodity and has successfully filed you away in their mental filing cabinets as occupying that “spot.” Therefore, marketing communications that are contrary to the consumer’s product knowledge are challenged or unconsciously blocked/denied by the mind.
Now, having demonstrated the power of a strong positioning statement, Will You Accept This Rose? Log-on to see an interactive demonstration of how positioning can help you achieve the coveted “top-of-mind.” http://www.WillYouAcceptThisRose.com

Many of us leave the nine-to-five grind in hopes of finding more freedom and greater financial rewards by operating our own home businesses. One of the most attractive elements of making that transition is the prospect of not having a boss.
After years in the workforce taking orders from others, the idea of being the primary decision maker and final authority is incomparably attractive.
Unfortunately, it is far too easy to lose track of the fact that you will still have a boss. You will be your own boss and as strange as it may sound, you will have to learn to be tough on yourself!
There won’t be another supervisor, upper management or other team members to pressure you to perform. Instead, you will need to rely on your own self-motivation and discipline. That’s right, discipline.
We’d prefer to think of running a home business as an exercise in constant flexibility. We envision days spent watching the money roll in while we wear our bathrobes and enjoy a morning coffee. We think back to days chained to our desk in “regular jobs” and relish the chance of being able to escape for a day trip or round of golf at will.
All of those things are possible, especially after you have developed a series of proven revenue streams and have created residual earning power. In the beginning, however, owning your own home business requires a great deal of focus and work. You will probably find that you need to be far tougher on yourself than any boss you had back in the regular workforce.
You’ll need to tell yourself to buckle down and work when a nap seems more inviting. You will have to instruct yourself to concentrate and work harder when you might prefer to spend the day enjoying yourself. Use those dreams of lazy days and fun activities to motivate you, but don’t start having them until you are truly ready. Establish your home business through dedicated effort and the days of fun and frolic will follow, all on their own.
Getting tough with yourself and pushing yourself to success is essential. By taking your business seriously and staying focused on your goals, you can position yourself to enjoy relaxing days and long vacations later. In order to get to those goals, however, you will need to apply a great deal of pressure to yourself.
As you grow your work at home business, resist the temptation to “take it easy” on yourself. You may be the boss and the employee, but you cannot afford to neglect either of those roles. Expect great things and tremendous effort from yourself, and then deliver both. If you do, you will find that working at home can be both lucrative and personally rewarding.

(or how I increased my monthly revenue while sitting at the beach in Africa…)
Last week, I read a very cool case study written by Anik Singal (sorry, can’t give you the link to the case study, it is available only inside his exclusive Affiliate Classroom, which I highly recommend, by the way http://www.membership-site-reviews.com/affiliateclassroom.html ) where he was explaining how last month, while being very sick, he still managed to create a 4800$ RESIDUAL income.
I found his report very cool, because Anik has a way with words, and he was telling exactly what I am trying to teach on my site about promoting or starting a membership site : it is one of the BEST way to create RESIDUAL income online!
I know many people, when they hear the word “residual”, they have a bad taste in their mouth, mostly because they have tried and failed big time in MLM, where they often promise you extremely high residual income but where in fact, only a few people at the top make real money. Been there, done that. I think every single affiliate marketer has been down this road at some point. Why? Because mlm is everywhere, and the recruiting is very heavy online.
But what if I could teach you a way to build REAL residual income? And what if I told you that you DON’T have to buy a starter kit…or to buy expensive products every month?
It is totally doable, and it wont cost you a cent. Let me explain.
………………………..
How to do it : make the best choice
………………………..
There are two types of affiliate programs online : the ones that pay a one-time commission, and the ones that pay a residual commission.
The difference? For the SAME EFFORT, the first option brings in a one-time income, and the second option brings in a MONTHLY income.
Think about it, if you had to choose, which one would you promote? Residual commission affiliate programs, of course!
Let me repeat this, it is extremely important : for the same EFFORT, you get paid EACH MONTH instead of only once!
………………………..
What is the secret?
………………………..
There are no secret… only one very interesting way to create that residual income : membership sites.
Membership sites are not for everyone, of course, but let me show you the two options you have (one for the lazy guy, another for the creative one!)
1. The creative option
If you have a real passion, in a profitable niche, you can create your own membership site. The one thing I hear a lot is “yeah..but people won’t PAY for content, there are so much free stuff online!”. This is absolutely FALSE. Why? Because time is money. Yes, there are tons of free content online, but in it there’s a lot of crappy content too! In our busy world, people are HAPPY to pay to get the real information quickly.
Of course, you have to offer great value for the money, but it is totally possible to create a very successful membership site. Many are doing it right now, and making real big bucks too!
Think about this : let’s say you start a site about info product creation and you decide to charge 27$ per month to your members. Well, once you have 100 members, you will be making 2700$ per MONTH! This is much better then doing 27$ once, when you sell an ebook.
Some will argue that it takes a real big effort to provide fresh new content each month. Let me tell you this : for my own membership site, I don’t do everything myself. Each month I set aside a part of my revenue and reinvest it in the site for fresh content. This way I can pay a few writers and specialists to help me out!
2. The lazy option
If you are not really interested in starting your own membership site, the lazy option is this : promote someone else’s membership site! You see, most membership sites has an affiliate program in place. Why not take advantage of it? The real big difference is that instead of getting paid once, as I mentioned earlier, most membership site affiliate programs pay you a residual monthly commission.
Think about this : if a membership site pays 50% commission to its affiliates, you get exactly the same share of profit then the membership site owner, and all you have to do is promote it!
………………………..
Conclusion
………………………..
By now, you should be convinced that promoting membership sites, or starting your own, is a great way to increase your monthly revenue. Even if finding those membership sites to promote is not easy, it is worth the extra research time!
………………………..
Hey… but what about the beach in Africa?
………………………..
Nearly forgot to mention it. Great headline don’t you think? Just kidding here. Well, it is totally true! I spent 2 weeks in Africa, doing a tour, and I stayed a few nights at a luxury resort on the beach. And while I was there, I did not have to worry about money, because I new that I was making some more even while I was away! Not only my monthly income is insured, it is always growing because my advertising campaigns are on autopilot!
Ok, I can’t guarantee you will make millions of money tomorrow by promoting membership sites, but you should really try it, it’s a lot of fun and you will be very happy you did, a year from now, when you will have a steady monthly income coming in

Are you interested in creating your ideal income this year? Are you tired of waiting for things to get better? Are you feeling like you have so much more potential than you are currently using?
Imagine for a moment reaching your ideal income this year. What would that look like and feel like? What would you be able to do that you can’t do now?
Ask yourself what are the things you need to be doing right now to manifest that? Do you need to find a way to raise your motivation? Do need to stop procrastinating? Do you need to stop avoiding marketing ? Do you need to be more accountable to yourself?
If you want to learn a simple way to create your ideal income, then read on…
Step 1: Get clear on what you do want.
Do know exactly where you want to be professionally in 12 months from today? To achieve even more clarity, I invite you to this simple visualization.
Sit in a comfortable place where you wont be disturbed. Ask yourself the following questions: In a year from now, what kind of work do you want to be doing? How many hours a week do you want to be doing it ? Who would be your ideal clients and colleagues ? What kind of people do you want to be around? What would be your ideal physical surroundings for work? Finally, ask your self what would be your ideal income? Pick a figure that is realistic but optimistic.
Here’s an example from one of my clients of what your visualization might look like, ” In one year from today, I see myself doing real estate, working mostly with listings, and being surrounded with people I like; people who are upbeat, responsible, committed and motivated. I have my own office, and I am looking out of a big window at a garden. My income is $150,000 net.”
How close is that to what you want to create?
Step 2: Overcoming the obstacles, challenges, self limiting beliefs, and self sabotaging strategies.
In Step 1, you got clarity on your ideal professional life. In Step 2, you identify the blocks you would need to overcome to get there. So ask yourself what is stopping you? What are your self limiting beliefs? What are your self sabotaging strategies?
In my 30 years of coaching people to become successful, the self limiting beliefs that I hear the most are:
• “I’m not good enough”
• “I don’t know enough”
• “I don’t have what it takes to succeed”
• “I can’t do marketing”
• “If I market myself, I’m afraid I’ll be rejected”
Take a good look at the list and ask yourself which ones resonate with you? Here’s the good news: “These are not facts, these are beliefs and beliefs can be changed”. One of the things I help my clients to do is to reprogram their self limiting belief into an Empowering belief. If you were to reprogram the beliefs above into Empowering beliefs what would they sound like? Anything like:
• “I am more than good enough”
• “I know all that I need to know and I can always research and find the answers”
• “I have all I need to succeed”
• “I’m learning to become a Master at marketing”
• “Since I have something of value to offer my prospective clients, most likely I will be accepted”
How would it feel to have those beliefs as your foundation?
Step 3: Create your script.
Once you have clarified what you want and reprogrammed your self limiting beliefs, the next step is to create your script. What is the area that you need to develop the most? Is it marketing, is it time management, is it confidence building? What ever you decide, you need a script to achieve it.
Why do I recommend a script rather than a plan? A business plan is a written document outlining a series of logical steps that lead to the realization of a goal in business. A business plan follows specific guidelines and requires certain information. A script, on the other hand, comes from your imagination. You can write what you want and not have to follow guidelines set by someone else.
Einstein once said, “Imagination is more important than knowledge”. Imagination is an integral part of ourselves and our intuition. When we write a script, we feel what we are writing and those feelings create physical sensations that connect our body to our imagination. When we are free to imagine and feel what we want, not only do we become like magnets to draw it to us, but also we are guided by “inspired action”.
What is the difference between “inspired action” and “frantic action”? The difference is between faith and fear. As you have probably heard, “Desperation doesn’t sell”. And yet, many of my clients have come to see me in a state of fear and panic. They have been taking action steps, frantic action , based on their fear and then they wonder why their marketing isn’t working. Fear doesn’t attract clients, it repels them.
“Inspired action” on the other hand are action steps that you feel inspired to do. What inspires you? Your vision, the reason why you’re doing what you are doing. Here’s a tip: if you really want to be successful, focus on the service you’re giving to others, not on the money. The money will follow if you are making a contribution and doing what you love.
One final thought on Faith v.s. Fear. Here’s a story that illustrates the message: a student goes to his teacher and says, “I’m having a terrible struggle between my fear and my faith. My fear is represented by a black dog and my faith is represented by a white dog. They are battling all the time and I don’t know which one is going to win.” The teacher says, “Why, the white dog, of course.” The student says, “How do you know?” The teacher says, “Because that’s the one you’re going to feed.”
Here’s a tip: How many creative ways can you find to feed your white dog?

Whether or not you consider yourself a writer, penning articles that are of value to your target market is one of the most effective ways to get your name out there and become known as an expert in your niche, attract visitors to your website, and gain new subscribers for your ezine or other Pink Spoon (free offering to entice prospects into your Marketing & Product Funnel).
And crafting a Top Ten article is one of the easiest ways of actually getting that article written! To help you, I’ve created a Top Ten on how to put together your own Top Ten article:
1. Visit www.topten.org
This is a great website to give you ideas and samples of how a Top Ten article looks. Once your article is complete, you can add yours to this website as well. (There’s also loads of good info on this site, but try not to get too distracted by it until your own article is finished… :))
2. Decide who your Top Ten is going to be written for.
To give you the best return for your investment in writing your Top Ten, it should be written for your niche. You can write a general article that applies to your entire niche, or you could choose a segment of your niche to write the article for.
3. Decide what your Top Ten is going to be about.
To take #2 a step further, choose one issue that your niche seems to grapple with over and over, and write the article based on your solution(s) to that problem.
4. Give it a title.
For example:
Top Ten Ways to Choose the Perfect Massage Therapist for You Top Ten Reasons for Not Writing a Blog Top Ten Steps to Making a Sound Business Investment Top Ten Mistakes to Avoid When Choosing a Babysitter Top Ten Blunders Most New Business Owners Make Top Ten Questions to Ask Before Hiring A Virtual Assistant Top Ten Answers to How to Design a Website Top Ten Requirements for Traveling to Europe Top Ten Points to Make in Any Presentation Top Ten Hints to Keeping A Clean House Without Maid Service
(I just made all of those up, so feel free to “steal” any of them.)
5. Create a summary paragraph about your Top Ten article.
Write a short paragraph that describes what your article is about. Three to five sentences should suffice. This will become your introductory paragraph.
6. Write down your Top Ten points.
Write down the ten points you want to make in your article. Keep each of the ten points short. For example, if your top ten article is “Top Ten Questions to Ask Before Choosing a Massage Therapist,” your Top Ten points might be:
Point 1: Is the location of the massage therapist’s office desirable?
Point 2: Does the massage therapist accept your insurance?
Point 3: Are the fees reasonable for you, if insurance is not accepted?
Point 4: Can you talk to some current clients?
Point 5: Is scheduling an appointment easy?
Point 6: Can you have your choice of a male or female therapist, if you have a preference?
Point 7: Is the environment of the therapist’s office to your liking?
Point 8: Does the therapist hold certain qualifications that are important to you?
Point 9: Does the therapist have a reasonable cancellation policy?
Point 10: Know you don’t have to stay with a therapist if they aren’t right for you!
7. Explain each of the ten points.
Write 3 to 5 sentences to illustrate each of your ten points.
For example,
Point 1: Is the location of the massage therapist’s office desirable?
Think about how much time you want to spend getting to and from a potential massage therapist’s office. Less is probably more desirable, or, if you’re like me, I drive 30 minutes because his office is very close to the only Starbucks around where I live, so the drive is worth it to me for my weekly chai.
8. Write your author’s resource box info.
For example, one version of mine says:
Alicia M Forest, MBA, Multiple Streams Queen & Coach, & Founder of www.ClientAbundance.com, teaches coaches, consultants, online entrepreneurs and solo professionals how to attract more clients, create profit-making products and services, make more sales, and ultimately live the life they desire and deserve.
For FREE tips on how to create abundance in your business, visit http://www.ClientAbundance.com
9. Proofread!
Please proofread your article and your author’s box. Even better, have someone else proofread it, too. Best is to have at least three sets of eyes look it over before you consider it ready to be published.
10. Leverage your article.
Submit your article to article submission sites and directories. I personally use and highly recommend SubmitYOURArticle. Also, submit it to www.topten.org. Use it in your ezine and on your website as a free valuable resource for your readers and visitors. Eventually group together a series of your articles with a common theme into an ebook to create a passive stream of income for you.
Follow these ten steps and in no time you’ll have written a solid and polished article with which to market your business!
Alicia M Forest, MBA, Multiple Streams Queen & Coach, & Founder of http://www.ClientAbundance.com , teaches coaches, consultants, online entrepreneurs and solo professionals how to attract more clients, create profit-making products and services, make more sales, and ultimately live the life they desire and deserve.

I know from experience what it is like to be a “newbie” to marketing a product online. It can be very frustrating and intimidating, to say the least. A person can very easily become overwhelmed by all the information and eventually they just want to throw in the towel. It can become so confusing.
Well, I know for one thing that it does take a lot of perseverance, to put it mildly. It does take trial and error and at times it may seem like it is more error than anything else.
However, I do believe that it is possible to succeed online. Whether it is being an affiliate or having your own product and website, I feel that it can be done.
One thing I have learned through all of the time I have spent trying to “make it” is that a person needs to stay focused. If you are posting to a forum, forget about looking at the other posts, just post and move on. Don’t waste your time looking at something that someone is trying to sell you. You are not there to purchase something, you are there to sell something, just like they are. So, even if it looks so tempting and you think this might be the one.…keep going. That is my advice on that.
You also need to realize that it takes time and effort to make something work. The internet “riches” are not going to just land in your lap. So, do not believe it when someone tells you that you will become a millionaire overnight without lifting a finger. It isn’t going to happen. It would be nice, but it doesn’t work that way. You will need to put time and effort into whatever it is you want to promote online. Patience is a virtue. I know this one very well, because I am not known to be the most patient person in the world!
Whenever you get to thinking that you want to just chuck it all and say forget it, just remember that it is feasible and that you can make it online. You have to keep in mind what I mentioned earlier and have real expectations.
Do not expect to be rich overnight. Do not expect to have someone else do all of the work for you. Do not think that it won’t take time and effort, because it will. These are my 3 DO NOTS of internet marketing for the newbie.
I wish everyone success in whatever they pursue.

Deciding to start your own business can be a scary process. There are dozens of questions you need to ask yourself before you even get started. What product or service am I going to sell? Where do I advertise? What kind of start up costs are involved? Do I qualify for a large enough loan? Can I do this? It can overwhealm you very quickly.
If you’re new to internet marketing and doing business online, the best place to start is affiliate marketing. While it may not be for everyone, there are a lot of advantages to being an affiliate:
To start with a lot of the hard work is already done for you. Someone else has already created a product for you to sell, and written a sales letter. All you have to do is market it and send people to their sales page through your affiliate link. The merchant takes care of the rest, and you just cash your commission cheques. Just make sure you’ve signed up with a merchant whose wesite converts well, meaning their sales letter really entices visitors to buy their product.
Another plus with affiliate marketing is that it can be done from anywhere in the world, as long as there’s an internet connection. All your promotion is done online, so as long as you have a computer with the internet you’re in business. You can work your business while you’re on vacation if you wanted to.
The ability to be able to work from home is a big plus for a lot of people as well. Stay at home parents can be a part of their kids lives, and work their schedule around family time, instead of the other way around. Not having to get up and go to work every morning, and come home tired in the evening is eliminated. You can work when you want, and see your family more often.
There’s less stress working for yourself because your income and achievements are based on your actions and skills. You don’t have co-workers to bother you or bring you down if their work is lacking. You can choose how much money you want to make each month and then put your plan into action to achieve those results, rather than working for someone else, getting paid for the hours you worked, and not the quality of work you do.
You have no inventory to carry because everything is done online. Most affiliate programs sell e-books or other electronic products, so everything is shipped to the buyer via email and the internet. People have instant access to their purchase, and don’t have to worry about shipping costs or extra fees.
You have low start up costs when you’re an affiliate. Your advertising budget is where you’ll spend your money, and you can find great places to advertise and get your money back plus a profit. Affiliate programs are free to join usually, so you don’t have any monthly commitments other than promotions. With the right training your advertising expenses will pay you many times over, creating a nice income for you and your loved ones.
These are just some of the advantages to being an affiliate. Of course it’s up to you to decide if it’s something you think you’d be able to do and enjoy. It’s a good idea to research any business before you invest any time or money, so you know what you’re getting yourself into.

Is your marketing plan dull, flat, and downright boring? Is it lacking the zest and appeal which can penetrate the consciousness of your buyers? If so, you may be driving away folks who could easily buy your products or services. If so, these ten signs from The 90 Day Marketing Marathon Blunders from A to Z: B is for Boring will support you in raising your awareness of what drives folks away and tips on how you can create a message which will catch fire in the market place.
1. It’s all about you.
Folks are not interested in you and your accolades. They want to know what you can do to solve their problem of the day. Drop the focus on you, and turn the spotlight on what is important to your buyer.
2. It is filled with details and research.
People are bogged down in details and statistics. They are much more interested in buying from someone who shares their personal experiences and who is willing to build an open and honest relationship.
3. It lacks action-oriented words.
People love to buy Nike products, because the words “Just Do It” communicate action. By using words such as run, dance, live, sing, move, or play, you will get your potential clients moving, excited about buying your product or service.
4. You have nothing new to offer.
People are bored with the same old same old. Put yourself on the bleeding edge of your profession by taking advantage of the new tools and resources which are out of the norm. (Example: In Coaching, we take advantage of modern online survey tools and blogging tools which breathe new life into our businesses.)
5. Your message drips of “neediness.”
If your marketing message is focused on “sell, sell, sell,” you will send the message that you are needy, which will drive customers away. Communicate your willingness to provide value, and you will develop raving fans.
6. Your message lacks “color.”
An advertisement can be delivered in black and white, still have “color,” and paint an amazing picture. Use powerful words which will grab the attention of your potential customers such as discover (suggests excitement), proven (sends a message of peace of mind), and savings (everyone wants more money and more time).
7. You are marketing on the surface.
People buy based on emotions. If you are selling shampoo, don’t just sell shampoo…sell beautiful hair. If you are selling heating and air units, sell comfort and warmth. If you are selling a vacation, sell a luxurious day on the beach and romantic walks under the stars.
8. It lacks your personality.
Even if you are selling widgets, folks want to know who is selling the widgets. Why? Because they want to know you can be trusted to deliver as promised. Use fun photographs and life stories so that your buyers can get a closer look at your life. The connection you will make will be unforgettable.
9. Your message lacks “added value.”
Studies show that people will buy if the value perceived is worth the investment. If you are charging nickels and dimes for small extras, you will quickly drive buyers away. People who “nit pick” over incidentals are often considered to be “uptight” and “inflexible.” Yawn!!! Drop the nit-picking, and over deliver by adding extra value. Folks will love you for it!
10. You are playing “Follow the Leader.”
People want to buy from people who are leaders. Be bold and unique in what you stand for in your business, and make this known on your website, in your brochures, and in the articles you write. You will position yourself as someone who is unique, confident, and someone who is worthy of trust.
