No single food can offer all of the necessary nutriments the body wishes. Therefore, it’s critical to consume a large spread of foods to provide acceptable intakes of minerals, vitamins and dietary fibre, which are critical for health. Eight tenets for a good diet Enjoy your food Eat a selection of different foods Eat the correct quantity to be a good weight Eat lots of foods loaded in starch and fibre Eat masses of fruit and veggies do not consume too many foods that contain plenty of fat do not have sweet foods and drinks too frequently If you drink alcohol, drink realistically Fruit and plants Fresh, frozen, dried and canned fruit and veggies all count. Also, 100 percent fruit or plant juice and pure fruit juice smoothies count. Select a wide selection and target to eat at least five different portions a day. Portions of fruit juice, plant juice or smoothies can only count as one portion per day irrespective of how much you drink. Beans and beats ( i.e.
Haricot, kidney, baked, soya and butter beans, chickpeas and lentils ) only count once each day regardless of how many various types you eat. This is a carbohydrate utilised by plants to make their cell walls. It’s also called fibre.
If you don’t eat foods materials which contain fibre you may finish up with problems of the gut and anus.
